The Auspicious Day

Read Time:1 Minute, 7 Second

Millions of people worldwide believe certain days are auspicious and specific times in a day are auspicious. There will be millions of days that are not auspicious and billions of hours that are not auspicious if we get into this belief system. Just as I joined District Government Hospital as an Intern, I vaguely remember a pregnant woman refusing to enter the Labour Room as it was not an auspicious day, even though it was her Estimated Date of Delivery and she was in severe pain!!

When I joined post-graduation, my future guide and professor had yet to report to the institution as new faculty, and we learned that the first day of reporting would be Tuesday. One of our staff was dead sure that no one would bother to report on Tuesday as it was not an auspicious day of the week!! As the day arrived, my guide and professor just walked in on Tuesday with a big smile, and obviously, it was not an auspicious time of the day!! However, the mere presence of my guide and professor completely changed many postgraduate students’ time in the institution into a promising one for future learning and beyond.
