They said- “you can’t do it.”

I did the same, even better.

They said- “don’t go there; it’s dark enough.”

They said- “don’t you dare move along with us.”

I became the light myself and went right through.

They said- “you can’t laugh so loud.”

I laughed my heart out, even when I cried within.

I spread my wings and flew over the ocean & through the skies across.

They said- “don’t go alone; they will harm you.”

I travelled across space, around the earth too.

They said- “you are so weak; a girl never argues.”

I went out to wrestle and gave them tough blues.

They said- “you lack life, are so dead inside.”

I became a mother & gave life to a life with pride.

They say, say and always say-

I am a woman, a light, a power, a will and a creator.

Not bound by their laws,

Not tied in their chains,

Maybe a little weak,

But have the will to shift mountains.

I may be a little imperfect,

But have the courage,

To show them all that-

The world I embrace,

The dreams I chase,

The spirit I encase-

It can make the world always more perfect.
